i got the idea to start this blog when i recently ran into a friend. he asked me how my quest was going, i had to stop & ask him which one! i knew then that i need to start a blog that would allow me to post info & updates on the various quests, causes, & paths, i am involved in.

belated - young at heart inspiration

this is an email i wrote for mothers day....

I just got home from seeing the BEST movie/documentary, yes, it's on my favorite list now: Young at Heart.
If you haven't heard of it, it is the story of a senior citzens choir. the twist is they sing current punk & rock hits!
I was SO struck & SO moved by the raw beauty & honesty of these beautiful people.

There is a scene where they go to a prison & sing for the inmates. What is so amazing that is shown is that music transcends all boundaries. It erases all lines. It is a literal frequency that can uplift & unify. According to societys rules, those two groups should never have mixed. and yet, because of inspiration & literally singing their hearts out, they saw each other as just people. Regardless of color or religion or even guilt.

I have always had a fear of growing old & these singers showed me that it can be done gracefully & that even when it doesn't look that way it can be done with a light heart & a warm sense of humor. The humanity portrayed was stunning. It made my heart overflow with love for the strangely & sometimes painfully beautiful creatures we are.

I started to think about mothers day after leaving the theatre. About what it means to birth something or someone into this world. As we speak, at this very moment one of my dearest friends is about to give birth to her second, beautiful child. Another dear friend is birthing her healing & affirming that she will move beyond the "diagnosis". The other woman dear to my heart is facing her second year without her mother physically with us. I am inspired by their courage & example.

I thought about all the other anonymous people of the world who are celebrating or grieving what it is to be a mother & what it is they offer in this world.

I LOVE to sing. i have confined my singing to; babies, showers, camp fires & my best friend from high school (at her request). that might just change after seeing this documentary.

Please, please go see this film - and if you are anything like me, bring kleenex - and lots of it.

Happy Mothers Day!

Be well to you & yours,
jenna
